Roseland

Roseland, on the far South Side, once enjoyed the prosperity that came with a booming industrial economy, from the railway coach construction in nearby Pullman to the steel mills and other manufacturers to the east that once attracted highly skilled craftsmen and laborers.  But in the 1960s, those fortunes began to fade as the rail car business collapsed and the steel industry entered a long period of decline.
